How the day is put together
Our boat runs to Ekincik, about two hours west. From there a local river boat takes you into the delta, because the channel is too shallow for a yacht. Rock tombs cut into the cliff, the ruins of Kaunos above the reeds, mud baths if you want them, and İztuzu at the mouth.
The turtles
İztuzu is a protected loggerhead nesting beach. Between May and September parts of it close at dusk and stakes mark the nests. It is genuinely a conservation site rather than a marketing line, so the rules are enforced and worth respecting.
