Rope round the propeller
The most common call we get, and the one where minutes matter. A diver goes in with a knife and a spare rope cutter; the shaft seal gets checked before we leave.
Underwater and hull
A rope round the propeller in Bozukkale at seven in the evening. A diver in the water, the shaft cleared, and no lift out of the water.
Before we get there
Do not run the engine again. Anchor if you can, put the gear in neutral and leave it there. A rope that is only wrapped comes off in twenty minutes; a rope that has been driven through the cutlass bearing does not.
What usually goes wrong

Anode change
Shaft, propeller and trim tabs, in the water, without hauling out. On this coast anodes go in one season, not two, because the marinas have stray current.

Hull clean in the water
Mid-season growth costs a knot and a lot of fuel. Done with soft pads so the antifouling survives the rest of the year.

Lost anchor, grounding check
We recover ground tackle and photograph keel, rudder and saildrive after a touch, which is what your insurer will ask for anyway.

We run seventeen boats ourselves
Every failure on this page has happened to us first, usually with guests aboard and usually at the worst hour. That is where the diagnosis order comes from.
Parts at cost, invoice shown
We charge for labour and travel. The supplier invoice goes to you unchanged, and nothing is added after the job without asking you first.
A price before anyone gets in the van
You get the likely fault, the likely cost and an arrival time in writing before we leave the yard. If it turns out to be something else, you hear it before we open anything.
Ninety days on our labour
If the same fault comes back within ninety days we return without charging for the call-out. Parts carry whatever the manufacturer gives them.
We work on boats we never chartered
Private owners, other charter companies and boats passing through. Our own fleet only jumps the queue when two calls land in the same minute.
Our own yard behind us
Carpenters, a welder and a paint crew at Bozburun, so a bracket that would take two weeks to order is made the same afternoon.
