Yacht charter in the Hisarönü Gulf
A gulf twenty miles long between two peninsulas, open only to the west. The most sheltered week within reach of Marmaris, and the one we recommend to first-timers.
Where the anchorages are
On the north shore: Bencik, a fjord that nearly cuts the Datça peninsula in two, and Kocabahçe. On the south shore: Orhaniye with the Kızkumu sandbar, Selimiye, Dirsekbükü, Bozburun and Söğüt. At the western mouth: Dişlice island and the open crossing to Symi.
The wind here
The gulf has its own afternoon breeze that builds from the west around two and drops at dusk. It is reliable enough to plan around and gentle enough that nobody minds. Mornings are usually flat calm, which is when the swimming happens.
